Composition on the Talmud that had not been Printed – Manuscript of the of the Grandson of Rabbi Shmuel Shatin – [Prague], 1777
Manuscript, Talmudic novellae, autograph of one of the geniuses of Prague / Breslau, 1777.
We do not know the writer's identity; however the manuscript itself contains clues as to his identity and from them we can conclude that the manuscript was written by the writer in the later years of his life, when he was a teacher at a yeshiva or even its head. Several references to "my genius grandfather
Rabbi Shmuel Shatin" (1644-1719) indicate that the writer was apparently his grandson. In addition, he writes that his in-law was
Rabbi Yeshaya Pik Berlin (1725-1799). He also refers to additional contemporary rabbis such as Rabbi Yehonatan [Eibshitz?],
Rabbi Yosef Te'omim (author of "Pri Megadim") and others.
[31] leaves. 58 written pages. Moderate condition. Tears with omission of text. Stains and wear. Detached leaves. At the beginning of the manuscript, an inscription by Gershon Mannis.
