Yuri Arkadyevich Syrnev (1905-1943).

From 1927 to 1932 he studied at the VKhUTEIN, at the graphic department, under V. M. Konashevich and P. A. Shillingovsky.

Since 1930, he worked in the children's department of the State Publishing House under V. V. Lebedev. Yu. A. Syrnev did not belong to the "Lebedev school", but considered himself a student of other artists close to him, illustrators of children's books N. F. Lapshin, V. M. Ermolaeva and N. A. Tyrsa. Art critic L. V. Mochalov confidently includes the name of Syrnev in the list of "such bright creative personalities as Tyrsa, Lapshin, Yudin, Uspensky, Syrnev, Ermolaeva."
