Responsa Mahar"i Weil, and Hilchot Shechitah U-Bdikah, Hidushin Mi-Sefer Agudah [by Rabbi Alexander Zuslin Ha-Cohen], and reasoning of Mahara"r Menahem Mirzburk. Venice 1549.
Mahari Weill was a disciple of the Maharil and one of the great 16th century Ashkenazic sages. The present sefer is regarded as the fundamental work on laws pertaining to shechitah and bedikah, and his rulings were universally accepted throughout all Ashkenazic lands as Halachah.
The Maharshal writes, “He was the leader among the Achronim, and his waters were drunk by all who followed him.”
