R. Yehuda Zev Segal (1910-1993), was a son of R. Moshe Yitzchok Segal, a great Talmid Chochom, who served as Rosh Yeshiva of the Manchester Yeshiva. At the age of 20, R. Yehuda Zev went to the Mirrer Yeshiva, where he studied B’Chavrusa with R. Chaim Shmuelevitz and became extremely close to the Mashgiach R. Yechezkel Levenstein. In 1933, he returned to England assisting his father in his Yeshiva and eventually succeeded him as Manchester Rosh Yeshiva. He was world famous as a great Tzaddik particularly known for his emphasis on Mussar, Shmiras Ha’Lashon and Tefillah and thousands across the world would seek his counsel and Brochos.
