Semicha letter signed by Rabbi Isser Zalman Meltzer and Rabbi Yitzchak Isaac HaLevi Herzog, Yerushalayim 1939.
Rabbi Isser Zalman Meltzer (1870-1953), learned in the Volozhin Yeshiva where he renowned for his brilliance coupled with tremendous diligence. He served as Rosh Yeshiva in Slabodka and then as Rav and Rosh Yeshiva in Slutzk. In 1925 he emigrated to Yerusholayim where he served as the Rosh Yeshiva of Yeshivas Eitz Chaim. Author of the Even Ha’Ezel on the RaMBaM.
Rabbi Yitzchak Isaac HaLevi Herzog (1888-1959), first Ashkenazic chief rabbi of the Land of Israel starting in 1936, and then of the State of Israel until his passing. He served as chief rabbi of Ireland in an earlier period.
