FILIPE ALARCÃO, "Espelho que cai", 103,5 x 69 cm.
FILIPE ALARCÃO (b.1963) "Mirror that falls" Sculpture in mirror and metal painted in shades of black Unsigned Dim. approx.: 103.5 x 69 cm. "The mirror is a typology of objects that I had never looked at before. I was fascinated by its ability to multiply space with its reflections and I wanted to explore the idea of negative reflection. That is: the object reproduces what is found in front of itself at the same time that it "erases" what is behind. This kind of obliteration of the wall that supports it is created by the black structure of the mirror, as if it were separated from the support plane. The black background works as a space void cut into the opaque plane. This series is composed of 3 mirrors: the Falling Mirror, the Corner Mirror and the Corner Mirror." - in Introspective / Filipe Alarcão, designer / MUDE
