34 hand-painted porcelain sunflower seeds-2010. 34 original sunflower seeds made and designed by the artist Ai Weiwei.Size:ca 20 mm in length and 5 to 7 mm thickAll seeds are cast, fired and then hand-painted in Jindezhen city.In 2010 Ai Weiwei covered the floor of the Turbine Hall at the Tate Modern in London with 100 million sunflower seeds. Ai made them of porcelain, a traditional Chinese product. This material was originally extremely precious and exclusive. Today it is a mass product used for worldwide export. All sunflower seeds are hand-made and painted by hundreds of workers in a workshop in Jingdezhen.Recently, museum Voorlinden in Wassenaar also included a number of seeds in their collection.
