Basic Book: Pri Chadash on Orach Chaim - First Edition Amsterdam 1706

Sefer Pri Chadash on Shulchan Aruch Orach Chaim and Hilchot Gittin, by the Gaon Rabbi Chzikiya di Silva (1656-1696, one of the leading rabbis and Poskim of Eretz Yisrael in the 17th century). First edition that was published by the author's son Rabbi David Silva - Amsterdam, 1706. [4], 74, 19, [1], 9 leaves. In the National Library, the book appears in the Rare Book Collection. Stefansky Sifrei Yesod no. 171.

On leaf [2], a Portuguese dedication in honor of Yaakov Fererra. This leaf does not appear in all copies. Many approbations by contemporary rabbis.

This book is considered one of the basic Psikah books. At first, the book was strongly opposed since the author did not shy away from disagreeing with Maran the Beit Yosef and additional preceding editions. The rabbis of Egypt went so far as to forbid reading the book "לא קריאת ארעי ולא קריאת קבע". However, the ban was naturally removed when Rabbi Skomo Algazi the second, who was a leading disciple of Rabbeinu the author, became Chief Rabbi of Egypt. On another section of this book, on Yoreh Deah, Rabbeinu the holy Or Hachaim authored his book Pri Toar, to settle the questions of the Pri Chadash on the Poskim.
