Superb Taino Mid-Phase Hacha
One of the best, a badge or symbol of highest rank, the former property of a regional Cacique, (High Chief) or, of his highest Priest. Beautifully carved and with a laboriously rendered high polish, the form, the balance and important choice of exotic stone. For what it's worth , big NY auction wishes this and some others but can't say when there would be an appropriate sale. A deep black stone with a slight greenish cast. 12.5"H. " x 5.5" 1.5" deep.
