Composition depicting various materials, photo on paper and margin discreetly reworked with coloured pencils, 1925 (probably later print), below the image ligatured monogram "ME" on the left and dated "1925" on the right, mounted in passe-partout and signed, inscribed and dated "O. Müller-Eibenstock Fotogramm 1925" on this, on reverse New Year's wishes "Dear Mr Junker! We wish you and your dear family all the best for 1980. Yours, Cläre and Otto Müller", mount somewhat stained. Dimensions approx. 7,5 x 11,7 cm. Artist's info: actually Curt Otto Müller, called himself "Müller-Eibenstock" from 1920 on, German painter, draughtsman, graphic artist. Painter, draughtsman, graphic artist, designer (1898 Dorfstadt near Falkenstein in the Vogtland until 1986 Zwickau), childhood in Dorfstadt, 1913-16 apprenticeship as textile draughtsman at the Royal Saxon Art School for Textile Industry Plauen, branch Falkenstein, 1916-17 studies at the Royal Saxon Art School in Plauen, 1918-19 war service in Zeithain and at the Western Front, 1917-18 and 1919-20 assistant of the director Prof. Albert Forkel at the Plauen art school, 1920-32 textile designer at the Eibenstock branch of the Wuppertal-Barmen textile firm 'Bartels, Dierichs & Co."From 1920 he worked as a freelance painter and regularly spent longer periods of time in Berlin. In 1923 he was impressed by a Weimar Bauhaus exhibition and learned the Bauhaus' principles of design from his own experience, 1927-32, after the intercession of William Wauer and Kurt Schwitters, member of the artists' group "Die Abstrakten", to which Kandinsky, Klee and Feininger also belonged, 1926-31 exhibited at the Great Berlin Art Exhibition, after the bankruptcy of his employer from 1932 ran his own office for textile design "ETEKA" in Eibenstock, 1933-45 defamed as "degenerate" and worked almost exclusively as a textile designer and pattern designer for the lace and embroidery industry, 1939-40 and 1943-45 military service in the Second World War, 1946 return to the British Army, 1939-40 and 1943-45.
