Dog catching wild goose at a pond and birds of prey chasing roebuck which is about to fall, in each case below the depiction and in the plate text on the sitter, copper engravings, signed in the plate "J. El. Ridinger del. sculpt. et exud. 1745" and "Ridinger sculps." respectively, slightly stained and with waterstains, each framed under mount and behind glass, dimensions of the depictions without text ca. 29,5 x 26 cm and 28 x 22 cm. Artist's info: German painter, graphic artist and publisher (1698 Ulm to 1767 Augsburg), pupil of his father Johann Ridinger, from c. 1711 pupil of the painter Christoph Resch in Ulm, from 1713-14 with Johann Falch in Augsburg, through the mediation of Gabriel Spitzel three years in the service of Count Metternich in Regensburg, from c. 1718 pupil of Georg Philipp Rugendas the Elder at the Augsburg City Academy, here appointed "Assesor of the Protestant Marriage Court" in 1757 and director of the City Academy in 1759, became famous for animal and hunting depictions, which made up a major part of his work, Source: Thieme-Becker, Wikipedia and Internet.
