Folder "Lefébre-Wilhelm"
Probably a former artist's portfolio by Albert Wilhelm Lefèbre, circa 1900, linen-covered lid with cord binding and polychrome embroidery in shades of black, violet and yellow, front cover with typical decoration of the time consisting of two heart-shaped bouquets with stylised blossoms and a central inscription of the name in front of a striped background with a final serrated border and rounded corner motif respectively. Back cover with small corresponding vignette, signs of age and wear, partial loss of substance in the embroidery and green interior stains, dimensions of each cover 61 x 43 cm. Artist's info: German painter and graphic artist (1873 Frankfurt am Main to 1974 Meran), studied 1889-95 at the Royal Prussian Academy of Arts in Düsseldorf with Heinrich Lauenstein, Peter Janssen and Arthur Kampf, 1895-98 studied at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Munich with Carl von Marr, 1998-1903 at the Académie Julian in Paris, met Hans Purrmann, Oskar Moll, Henri Matisse and Pablo Picasso there, lived in Frankfurt am Main from 1914 to 1966 and then with his daughter in Merano, Source: Wikipedia.
