RABBI BARUCH HAGER (1845-1893), REBBE OF VIZHNITZ – AUTHOR OF IMREI BARUCH, LETTER TO RABBIS AND OFFICERS OF KOLEL KOSSOV IN TZEFAS – VERY RARE.

Letter sent by the Rebbe of Vizhnitz to the rabbis and leaders of the Kossov Kollel in Tzefas, asking for the reinstatement of R. Todros as ‘memuna’ (officer) of the Kollel on his return to Tzefas after having spent time abroad.

The letter is signed by the Rebbe of Vizhnitz.

Rabbi Baruch Hager, son of Rabbi Menachem Mendel of Vizhnitz – author of Tzemach Tzadik and son-in-law of Rabbi Aryeh Leib Shapira of Zhitomir. In his exceptional modesty, Rabbi Baruch only assumed the leadership of the Vizhnitz dynasty after much persuasion, and even then he rarely spoke publicly. He was greatly revered by his chassidim and others, but passed away at the young age of 48. Author of Imrei Baruch.

Due to the short period of his leadership, very few letters of his have survived, making this item particularly rare.

1 side. 14.5x22.5 cm. Good condition. Stains remaining from removed old tape.
