Invitation to a Wedding with the Signature of the One Inviting Rabbi Akiva Schlesinger – Rare! [1882?]
A printed form of an invitation to a wedding. The names of the bride and groom were not printed. The invitation is signed by author of 'Kev HaIvri' – "Akiva Yosef … who respects and honors you". Thus, the wedding was of one of his sons or daughters, possibly his daughter, Sarah, who married Rabbi David Baharan (1866-1946), one of the well-known geniuses of Jerusalem.
Extremely rare! Such invitation did not usually survive.
Rabbi Akiva Yosef Schlesinger (1837-1922) was one of the geniuses of Hungary who immigrated to Jerusalem, supporting the settlement of the land, agriculture and the establishment of factories and protection battalions.
Moderate-good condition. Tears and stains.
Opening price: $100
Estimated price: $200-$300
