1986 France 100 Francs Silver Piedfort Strike, Statue of Liberty, KM# P972 Grades ms69+. In 1886, the people of France gifted to the American people a statue that has become known the world over as a symbol of Liberty. To honor this centennial, France caused to be issued a 100 franc with a rendition of the Statue of Liberty. This variety is the Piedfort strike. It is twice the weight and thickness of the regular coin, thus twice the raw silver content.
