1972 US Treasury Department Bronze Medal LM-713 Grades GEM+ Unc. The medal shown is one included in the Mint's "Historic Buildings of the United States" series. The Treasury Building medal was first available for sale in 1973. It sold as an individual medal Visitors at the Treasury Building could purchase examples of the medals; they could also be purchased at US Mint gift shops and via mail order.The "October 1972" seen on the medal's reverse refers to when the Treasury Building was designated as a national historic landmark; the commemorative ceremony took place on October 18, 1972 on the South Portico of the Treasury Building near the statue of Alexander Hamilton, the first Secretary of the Treasury.
