Leaf with two handwritten letters about Shertok’s intention to learn Arabic in Cairo for a year or two, before his departure to Constantinople for his law studies. Addressed to the Members of the Pedagogy Committees of the “Hertzeliah” school in Jaffa, [October 1913].
1. Handwritten letter by Menachem Ussishkin, “I spoke with Shertok at length and fully agree with his intended two year trip to Egypt; we need people who know the Arabic language and lifestyle…”.
2. Handwritten letter by (19 years old) Moshe Shertok, “you do know that I have decided to pursue law studies at the University of Constantinople… a lawyer needs perfect knowledge of Arabic… and this necessity will be felt even more in the near future…”.
