Zera Shimshon, sermons on the Torah and the five Megillot, by Rabbi Shimshon Chaim ben Nachman Michael Nachmani. Mantua, [1778].
Rabbi Shimshon Chaim Nachmani (1706-1779, Otzar HaGedolim 20083) an Italian Torah scholar and mekubal. Taught Torah in Modena and Mantua and had disciples who served in the rabbinate of a number of Italian communities. Also wrote the book Toldot Shimshon on Tractate Avot. The Chida writes that he was well-versed in practical Kabbalah and commanded his Kabalistic works to be buried in his grave (Shem HaGedolim, chapter "Ma'arechet Sefarim", Letter 46). In his introduction to the book, the author urges "in ten languages of prayer" to study his book, and blesses the person who does so that "The One Who Repays should pay in this merit a good imbursement for those who do that true chessed with the three blessings of children, life and livelihood". Further in the introduction the author writes that since his only son died and he was left without any children, he called his book Zera Shimshon (Seed of Shimshon). He promises "And your eyes shall see your children and grandchildren like olive plants around your table, wise and clever and homes full with all good, also wealth and also honor shall not leave your children until 'They shall see G-d's honor…'".
