Binding of Isaac - Colorful Lithograph by Moshe Ben Yitzchak Mizrahi
"Veakadeta Yitzchak Hayom…". Lithograph by Moshe Ben Yitzchak Mizrahi. Jerusalem, 1913.
Leaf in colorful lithographic printing.
A large lithograph, divided into three sections: depicted in the upper part is Isaac on the altar, Abraham lifting the sword and the angel grasping it; on the left - a ram whose horns are caught by a tree's branches. In the middle part - Abraham and Isaac on the way to Mount Moriah, and the boys, wearing Turkish hats and smoking a Narghile and a pipe, next to the donkey. On the lower part - Rebecca offers Eliezer, servant of Abraham, some drinking water from her jug, with ten camels behind him.
In the outer frame appear verses from the story of Isaac's binding (Genesis 22) and verses of blessing and protection - "Priestly Benediction", "G-d shall give you dew and oil…". Artist's signature appears in the lower frame: "Me, Moshe Ben Yitzchak Mizrahi Jerusalem , 1913…" (Hebrew).
Approx. 58X46 cm. Fair-good condition. Stains. Creases and tears, professionally restored. Some corrections with paint appear in the upper and left side margins. Framed. Unexamined out of frame.
