English translation of Constantin-François Volney's book recording his travels through Syria and Egypt in the years 1783-1785. Two volumes, including five folding engraved-plates: map of Egypt, map of Syria, plan of the interior of the Temple of the Sun, view of the Temple of the Sun and view of Palmira ruins (panorama).
Volume 1: XV, 387 pp + [2] folding plates (maps). Vol. 2: VII, 419, [16] pp + [3] folding plates. 21.5 cm. Good condition. Stains (significant staining to one of the plates). Signature on front endpaper of the second volume. Tears at margins of two plates (maps). Leather bindings, damaged (worn spines).
