About 135 fictitious banknotes printed for various purposes. Israel, second half of 20th century.
The collection includes: a protest banknote (and draft of the banknote) issued by the Bar Ilan University Students Association, calling to set free the Jews in Russia - "Slavery country of the twentieth century"; game banknotes (some published by B. Barlevi); banknotes which were used as discount coupons in various stores and as advertisements; banknotes which were issued as part of political and protest campaigns, many of them regarding inflation, such as a 1000 Shekels banknote on behalf of "Bank HaLikud - Elef Shekarim" (one thousand lies) and a 10 Lira banknote issued by the "Black Panthers" and "Moked" with a reminder that in 1976 it will be worth only 6 Lira, "because the government reduces the subsidies… and hurts the poor employees"; humorous banknotes issued by Kibutz Ramat HaKovesh; Promotional banknotes for theater plays; "Shanah Tovah" greeting cards designed as banknotes; "Tel-Aviv Lira" issued on behalf of "Herzlilienblum - museum for Tel Aviv Banking and Nostalgia"; and more. Some items appear in several copies.
