Letter from the Lubavitcher Rebbe – Tammuz 1959 – Wedding Congratulations and Blessings for Chag HaGeulah of the Rayatz – "May G-d, Shepherd of Israel Shine His Face and Redeem Us from all Disturbances, and May We Fulfill… in True Prosperity Both in Material and Spiritual Areas"
Letter from Rebbe Menachem Mendel Schneersohn – the Lubavitcher Rebbe, with his signature. Brooklyn NY, 16th Tammuz 1959.
Typewritten on the official stationery of the rebbe, with his signature and several words and corrections in his handwriting.
Addressed to R. Chaim Shalom Segal of Jerusalem, on the occasion of his son's wedding, shortly after Chag HaGeulah 12th-13th Tammuz, holiday commemorating the liberation of the rebbe's father-in-law, Rebbe Rayatz of Lubavitch from Soviet imprisonment in 1927.
The rebbe begins with wishes: "I was pleased to read that the wedding took place on the designated day…". The rebbe continues the letter on the topic of Chag HaGeulah of the Rayatz – "which was a redemption for the public, both at that time and for years and generations to come", and blesses: "May this come to fruition in the areas he risked his life for, in matters of disseminating Judaism in general and particularly in disseminating the wellsprings… and since serenity, joy and gladness of the heart are required for the success of this work, may G-d the Shepherd of the Jewish people shine His countenance and redeem us from all disturbances, and may we fulfill all the above in true prosperity, both in material and spiritual areas".
At the end of the letter, after "Bivracha" (with blessings), the rebbe added in his own handwriting: "for good news".
