Pinkas of the Keren Shmuel Charity Society – Jerusalem, 1935
Pinkas of the Otzar HaChessed – Keren Shmuel society, with a letter signed by the gabbaim and rabbis. Jerusalem, Cheshvan 1935.
Pinkas in calligraphic script, with color title page, written for the society's emissary. The society's objectives are listed on the second leaf. The following pages contain an authorization for R. Yehuda Strizover to raise funds on behalf of the society, signed by three gabbaim of the society: "Tuviah Solomon, Zalman HaLevi Soloveitchik, Dov Wishnatsky"; letter of confirmation from the chief rabbinate, signed by R. Tzvi Pesach Frank and the secretary R. Shmuel Aharon Weber. The rest of the pinkas is blank (apart from one page with a list of names).
The Otzar HaChessed society was founded in 1906 with the objectives of providing interest free loans to the needy and for the building of houses and neighborhoods in Jerusalem. Kiryat Shmuel was one of the Jerusalem neighborhoods built by the society.
The emissary is most probably R. Yehuda Leibush Strizover (d. 1952), a Sanz chassid.
[7] written pages, + many more blank leaves. 16.5 cm. Good condition. Stains and wear. Old binding, worn.
