Collection of letters from Rebbe Yosef Yitzchak Schneersohn – the Rayatz of Lubavitch, with his handwritten signature. Brooklyn NY, 1943-1948. Most letters in Yiddish (2 in Hebrew and 1 in English).
Typewritten on the official stationery of Rebbe Rayatz, with his signature "Yosef Yitzchak".
1-18. Eighteen letters addressed to the philanthropist Elchanan Glazer. 1943-1947.
Many blessings for good health and longevity, success in business and abundant livelihood, good year and Passover wishes, and other blessings.
Many of the letters discuss communal matters. In one letter (Tishrei 1945), the rebbe requests Mr. Glazer's assistance in bringing over Tomchei Temimim students in Shanghai to the United States. In other letters, the rebbe acknowledges his donations to Chabad institutions, and his sponsoring the printing of the Tzemach Tzedek series of books.
19. Letter of good year wishes addressed to R. Yitzchak (presumably Yitzchak Glazer, father of Elchanan Glazer). 27th Elul 1945.
20. Invitation to a conference regarding Holocaust refugees in Europe. 13th Cheshvan 1948. English. With the rebbe's full signature: "Yosef Yitzchak Schneersohn". The word "Bivracha" (with blessings) was handwritten by the rebbe. Addressed to Mr. Benjamin Glazer, presumably a relative of Elchanan Glazer.
