Interesting Letter from Rebbe Chaim Meir Hager of Vizhnitz – To His Brother Rebbe Boruch Hager of Seret-Vizhnitz – Suggestion of the Style of Music to be Played at the Wedding of His Only Daughter
Letter (13 lines) handwritten and signed by Rebbe Chaim Meir Hager of Vizhnitz. [Kiryat Vizhnitz, Bnei Brak, 8th Elul 1956]. Yiddish.
A warm letter, addressed to his brother Rebbe Baruch Hager of Seret-Vizhnitz, in Haifa. The letter discusses the preparations for the upcoming wedding of R. Baruch's only daughter. R. Chaim Meir reminisces about weddings their family had celebrated in Grosswardein (Oradea), and suggests that just like then, march music should be played at the upcoming wedding.
Rebbe Chaim Meir Hager, the Imrei Chaim of Vizhnitz (1888-1972), second son and successor of the Ahavat Yisrael of Vizhnitz. Rebuilt the Vizhnitz Chassidut in Eretz Israel after the Holocaust.
His younger brother, recipient of the letter, Rebbe Baruch Hager of Seret-Vizhnitz (1895-1964), rebbe in Seret. Established Ramat Vizhnitz in Haifa, where he led his court.
