Letter of guidance regarding the Agudath Israel educational institutions in Eretz Israel, by R. Yekutiel Yehuda Halberstam of Sanz-Klausenburg, addressed to R. Menachem Porush in Jerusalem. [Williamsburg], Elul 1952.
Typewritten, with the rebbe's handwritten signature.
In his letter, the rebbe supports the decision to found Yiddish-speaking institutions, and objects to the trend of Ashkenazic children using the Sephardic pronunciation. He encourages R. Porush to obtain independent funding for the institutions in Eretz Israel.
The letter was printed in Likutei Shefa Chaim, with the omission of the name of the recipient and several other words.
Rebbe Yekutiel Yehuda Halberstam of Sanz-Klausenburg (1904-1994), author of Shefa Chaim, was one the leading post-Holocaust builders of Orthodox Jewry. He founded the Sanz communities and institutions in the United States, Jerusalem and Netanya, including the Laniado hospital.
