Besamim Rosh Responsa – First Edition – Polemic
Besamim Rosh Responsa, three hundred ninety two halachic responsum attributed to Rabbeinu Asher – Ha'Rosh and otherRishonim, with the "Kassa De'Harsana" commentary by Rabbi Shaul Berlin.
Berlin, 1793. First edition.
The book stood at the center of a great polemic: Rabbi Mordechai Bennet, the Chatam Sofer and others had claimed that the book was a fake and that the responsum in it was not written by Ha'Rosh but by the publisher of the book, Rabbi Shaul Berlin. The book's authenticity remains controversial to this very day. according to what is written on its ttile page, the reponsum was edited by an unknown Sephardic scholar named rabbi Yitzchak De Molina.
