Letters of Hechsher (Kashrut) for a Flower Shop during the Shemita, Handwritten and Signed by Rabbi Shmuel Ha'Levi Wosner - 1973 - Rare
Three letters handwritten and signed by Rabbi Shmuel Ha'Levi Wosner, author of "Shevet Ha'Levi".
The letters are a Hechsher for the flower shop "Pinat Ha'Perach Ve'ha'Noy" on Chazon Ish Street in Bnei Berak, owned by Reb Zalman Zilbershlag. Rabbi Wosner writes in the letter from Adar that there is no fear that the flowers of the shop are flowers of the Shemita: "I hereby confirm that the shop of Reb Zalman Zilbershlag … is a Shemita-observing shop and flowers can be bought from it. This Hechsher is valid until the 3rd of Iyar 5733 (1973)".
It is interesting to note that the Hechsher letters were given again and again for three months - Adar A, Nissan and Iyar of 1973, which was a leap year and Shemita. It is most likely, that the owner of the shop ordered a new shipment of flowers and received Rabbi Wosner's Hechsher for each of the shipments.

It was not usual for Rabbi Wosner to give a Hechsher. The various shops of Bnei Berak were under the supervision of the rabbi of the city, Rabbi Ya'akov Landau.
Before us is an extremely rare item: a letter of Hechsher written and signed by Rabbi Wosner.
