"Chaver Certificate" Handwritten and Signed by Rabbi Zvi Hirsch Oppenheim - Temeschwar, 1851 - Rare!
Certificate handwritten and signed by Rabbi Zvi Hirsch Oppenheim given to his disciple Rabbi David Ben Ze'ev.
In the document, Rabbi Oppenheim praises his disciple at length: "When I was here with him, for more than two years, he wanted to study Torah day after day … and I really and truly loved him and even now when I speak to him, my heart opens and my soul rejoices …. And may these lines serve as evidence that he chooses what is right and therefore, my soul wants to decorate him with good, he the impressive and dear Chaver Rabbi David … the 13th of Tishrei 5611 (1851) … Ha'Tza'ir Ve'Hakatan (the young and small) Zvi Hirsch Oppenheimer".

Rabbi Zvi Hirsch Oppenheim (Otzar Ha'Rabbanim 17179. 1793-1859) was born to his father Rabbi David Oppenheim Av Beit Din of Temeschwar. He was the disciple of Rabbi Moshe Mintz Av Beit Din of Obuda. Since 1821, he replaced his father at the rabbinate of Temeschwar until his death. He had many disciples. Was one of the leading figures in the struggle against Reform Judaism. In 1829, he published a book "Einei Ha'Da'at" - criticizing the book of Aharon Chorin (pioneer of early religious reform in Hungary). He corresponded with the "Chatam Sofer".
