Postcard with the Picture of Dr. Alexander Marmorek, with his Handwritten Signature - 1908 - Rare!
On the postcard, a photograph of Dr. Alexander Marmorek and beside it a signature and date in his handwriting: 2.5.1908.
At the bottom of the postcard, a rare label of "Palestine Workers' Fund" with an illustration of two farmers on the background of a sunrise.
Dr. Alexander Marmorek (1865-1923) was a physician, one of the forefathers of Zionism. He was close to Herzl, so much so, that the character of Professor Steineck in Herzl's Altneuland was based on Marmorek's figure. He participated in the first Zionist congresses as the representative of Vienna.
