Il y a des cinémas, cabaret, bals, etc... et heureusement on est très loin de cette horrible guerre qu'il faut espérer ne durera pas longtemps...´ (Translation: ” Thank you for the many lovely cards you sent me, but I haven't been able to write sooner as I've been very busy. I arrived two weeks ago to spend three months in my castle because it's terribly hot in Kapurthala... Right now, it's a large summer resort in the world's highest mountains, the Himalayas, at an altitude of 2,300 meters. There are cinemas, cabarets, dances, etc... and thankfully, we're very far from this horrible war, which we must hope won't last much longer...”) VG Liane de Pougy (1869-1950) French vedette and dancer with the Folies Bergere, renowned as one of Paris´s most beautiful and notorious courtesans.
