CORELLI FRANCO: (1921-2003) - CORELLI FRANCO: (1921-2003) Italian tenor. A good vintage signed 7 x 9.5 photograph of Corelli standing in a half-length pose in costume as Manrico, holding a sword in his hands, from Giuseppe Verdi's 1853 four-act opera Il trovatore . Photograph by Troncone of Naples and bearing their credit stamp to the verso. Signed by Corelli in blue fountain pen ink with his name alone across a lighter area at the head of the image. VG Manrico was one of Corelli's major roles and was also the role that he performed on the occasion of his debut at the Metropolitan Opera in 1961. The Troncone studio was closely associated with the Teatro di San Carlo in Naples and photographed its designs, productions, performances and audiences from 1948-80.
