LEIGH & OLIVIER - LEIGH VIVIEN (1913-1967) English actress & OLIVIER LAURENCE (1907-1989) English actor, both Academy Award winners. A good vintage signed 3.5 x 5.5 postcard photograph by both Vivien Leigh and Laurence Olivier individually, the image depicting the thespians walking together in three-quarter length poses, carrying various bags and Leigh holding a bouquet of flowers, having arrived at Vienna train station, with a small crowd of well-wishers and other passengers in the background. Photograph by Votava of Vienna and bearing their credit stamp to the verso. Signed by both in blue inks with their names alone, Leigh to a light area at the head of the image and Olivier to the base of the image. An unusual image to find signed. VG Leigh and Olivier visited Vienna from 12th to 15th June 1957. They stopped in the city during a turbulent European tour of Shakespeare's Titus Andronicus , performing at the Burgtheater. Their European tour is historically remembered as the final time the couple performed together on stage. The Vienna trip, in particular, was famously difficult; Leigh and Olivier's marriage was under severe strain, and director Peter Brook ultimately persuaded Leigh to get medical sedation for severe mood swings.
