LITERARY ADAPTATIONS: Selection of signed 8 x 10 photographs by various actors and actresses, each of the images depicting them in costume from film (and one stage) adaptations of different literary works, comprising Jose Ferrer (in costume from his Best Actor Oscar winning performance as the poet and supreme swordsman Cyrano de Bergerac from the 1950 adventure comedy film of the same name, based on Edmond Rostand’s drama, 1897), Maggie Smith (as Augusta Bertram from the American comedy film Travels with My Aunt, 1972, loosely based on Graham Greene´s novel of the same title, 1969), Bud Cort (as Baernard Marx from the American television movie Brave New World, 1980, based on Aldous Huxley´s novel of the same title, 1972), Dana Gillespie (as Ajor from the adventure fantasy film The People That Time Forgot, 1977, based on two 1963 novels by Edgar Rice Burroughs), James Wilby (as Frank Ashton from the British drama film A Summer Story, 1988, based on John Galsworthy´s short story The Apple Tree, 1916), Joan Plowright (as Masha Kulighina from Laurence Olivier´s film Three Sisters, 1970, based on Anton Chekhov´s play The Three Sisters, 1901), and Zoe Wanamaker (as Gwendoline from a stage production of Oscar Wilde´s play The Importance of Being Earnest at the Royal National Theatre, London, 1982). All are boldly signed (several in fountain pen inks) to largely lighter areas of the images, and only two are inscribed. Generally VG, 7
