STANLEY HENRY M: (1841-1904) British Journalist and Explorer. A.L.S., Henry M Stanley, one page, 8vo, New Bond Street, London, 20th September 1884, to Mr. Byles, on printed stationery featuring an image of Africa with the caption The Dark Continent above. Stanley asks that his correspondent accept a photograph (no longer present) 'as a souvenir of my very pleasant visit to Mrs. Byles & yourself' and also adds his thanks 'for the amiable hospitality' extended to him by his correspondent and their wife. Some very light, extremely minor age wear to the lower edge of the letter, otherwise VG £150-200
