Peary sends his correspondent a photograph (no longer present) as requested and remarks 'Am busy night & day with the preparations for my voyage'. A few minor stains and light areas of discoloration, none of which significantly affect the text or signature, G £100-150 Peary's letter is written less than a month before the explorer and his party left New York aboard the SS Kite as they embarked upon the Second Greenland Expedition which conclusively proved that Greenland was an island and not part of a much larger landmass extending to the North Pole.
