Haldane informs his correspondent that the warden of New College has informed him that the College 'would like to have, for a collection it is making, a Clarendon Press collotype of the chalk portrait you did of me, & which all my friends like', and therefore seeks his correspondent's approval and explains that he is asking the artist's sister to forward the letter 'as I don't know your address and fancy that you will not be back in England for some time'. With blank integral leaf. A few minor spots of foxing at the head of the page, only very slightly affecting the blind embossed address, and not the text or signature.
