A.L.S., I K Brunel, one page, 8vo, Duke Street, Westminster, 12th May 1837, to C. W. Stevens, on the printed stationery of the Great Western Railway. Brunel confirms to his correspondent that the 'statement of Mr. White requesting an arrangement with me as to Mr. Cholmeley's land is quite correct'. With integral address leaf in Brunel's hand and bearing a few small remnants of the original red wax seal and several postal cancellations. Some light creasing and minor age wear, about VG £600-800 Brunel's letter is written during the time he was engineering the Great Western Railway which linked London with the southwest and west of England, the West Midlands and most of Wales. Labelled by some as 'God's Wonderful Railway', it's first trains ran on 4th June 1838, just over a year after the present letter was written.
