ALEXANDER III: (1845-1894) - ALEXANDER III: (1845-1894) Emperor of Russia 1881-94. Attractive signed printed large folio copy of L´Illustration Journal Universel, French weekly edition, sixteen pages, 3rd January 1880, signed by Alexander III, as Emperor, with his initial ` A ´ in red indelible pencil to the upper right corner of the front page. The Parisian journal includes multiple and very attractive large engravings, showing to the front page four portraits of French Ministers, containing Varroy, Minsiter of Public works, of M. Cazot, Minister of Justice, general Farre, Minister of war and M. Magnin, minister of finances. To the inside showing multiple attractive drawings related to the Seine river frozen in December 1879 also showing snow melting tests using steam. Further showing attractive engravings of the opening of the Metropolitan railway opening in New York. The journal also includes articles and multiple advertisements. The present copy was originally bound in a red leather folio volume for the Emperor, alongside other additions of the journal. Left edge with small traces of former bounding, otherwise VG
