MARINETTI FILIPPO TOMMASO: (1876-1944) - MARINETTI FILIPPO TOMMASO: (1876-1944) Italian poet and art theorist, founder of the Futurist movement, and best known as the author of the Manifesto of Futurism (1909) and as a co-author of the Fascist Manifesto (1919). Dark ink signature ( ´F. T. Marinetti´ ) to the lower border of the recto of a picture postcard depicting the Lo Scoglio della Regina beach resort in Livorno. Hand addressed by Marinetti to the verso to Madame Gustave Kahn in Paris. Some very light, minor age wear, VG Gustave Kahn (1859-1936) French Symbolist poet and art critic, a primary influence on Marinetti. Kahn´s wife was Elizabeth Dayre, a Catholic-born French woman remembered by historians for her bold, symbolic stand against antisemitism. During the Dreyfus affair Kahn passionately supported writer Émile Zola and the pro-Dreyfus camp. To show absolute solidarity with her husband and the Jewish people, and to actively protest the rampant antisemitism sweeping French society, Elizabeth formally converted from Catholicism to Judaism . Upon her religious conversion and subsequent wedding to Gustave at the Grand Synagogue de la Victoire in Paris in 1898, she legally changed her name to Rachel . The dramatic gesture of a Catholic woman converting as a political and humanitarian protest was a major event that was widely covered and commented on by the French press at the time.
