BLIXEN KAREN: (1885-1962) - BLIXEN KAREN: (1885-1962) Danish author, best known for her memoir Out of Africa (1937) which was made into a movie starring Meryl Streep in 1985. Signed and inscribed 5.5 x 3.5 postcard photograph of Blixen seated in a half-length pose accompanied by the film actress Marilyn Monroe and the novelist Carson McCullers. Signed by Blixen in blue ink to the verso, also identifying the subjects in her hand at the base (and effectively providing a second signature), ´Marilyn Monroe, Karen Blixen & Carson McCullers´ . VG On 5th February 1959, Marilyn Monroe, Karen Blixen, and Carson McCullers met for an iconic luncheon hosted at McCullers' home in Nyack, New York. Arranged at the request of the frail 74-year-old Blixen, the eclectic gathering—which also included Monroe's husband Arthur Miller—famously centered on a menu of oysters, white grapes, and champagne to accommodate Blixen's strict diet. The afternoon became legendary for its charm and eccentricity, highlighted by Monroe sharing a self-deprecating story about using a hair dryer on homemade pasta, and McCullers' enduring claim that the literary giants and Hollywood icon ultimately danced together atop a marble dining table.
