[RAY MAN]: (1890-1976) - [RAY MAN]: (1890-1976) American visual artist, a significant contributor to the Dada and Surrealist movements and a renowned pioneering fashion and portrait photographer. An original printed slim 8vo (approximately 9.5 x 21 cm) invitation card to the opening night of Man Ray´s exhibition of engravings, lithographs and décollages at La Hune bookshop and gallery, 170 Boulevard Saint-Germain, on 12th January 1972. The recto features a minimalist graphic design in white, the stylised figure suggesting a kneeling or bending human silhouette with an arm brought up to its head in a typical Surrealist posture. To the verso appears a printed list of Man Ray´s works to be featured at the exhibition including Aplhabet pour Adultes, Autoportrait, Kiki, Monument à Christophe Colomb et à Marcel Duchamp etc. Some very light, extremely minor age wear, about VG The exhibition at La Hune occurred during the final decade of Man Ray's life while he was living and working in Paris, cementing his legacy as a pioneer of both photography and graphic arts.
