(between 1905-37), to [Robert de Montesquiou] ( ´Cher maitre et ami´ ), on her attractive monogrammed stationery, in French. Brooks commences by stating ´Merci pour le bon conseil! Quel beau livre et quelle dedicace vraie´ (Translation: ´Thanks for the great advice! What a lovely book, and what a heartfelt dedication´ ) and continues to remark ´J´espère que le morceau Boswell apparaitra vite et gloire à lui qui ne laissera échapper une si belle occasion!´ (Translation: ´I hope the Boswell piece appears soon, and all credit to him for not letting such a wonderful opportunity slip by!´ ). Irregularly torn to the left edge and with two holes to the centre of the page, only very slightly affecting the text, but not the signature, G Robert de Montesquiou (1855-1921) French aesthete, Symbolist poet, art collector and dandy.
