De Gaulle states that he has received Jacquot´s letter, which he has read with the utmost attention, and remarks ´Je vais faire examiner la suite qu´il serait éventuellement possible de lui donner. Je crains néanmoins qu´il soit difficile d´aboutir à une solution satisfaisante´ (Translation: ´I shall look into what action, if any, might be taken in response to it. I fear, however, that it may be difficult to reach a satisfactory solution´ ). Together with a D.S., H de Rancourt , by Henry Rancourt de Mimérand, Chef du Cabinet Militaire du General de Gaulle, one page, 4to, Paris, 4th October 1944, in French. The typescript document is an Ordre de Mission and states ´Le Capitaine Jacques Revon, du Cabinet Militaire du Général De Gaulle (carte identité No. 027 du 5 Septembre 1944) se rendra à Alger à bord de l´avion ”Catalina” commandé par le Lieutenant de Vaisseau Archibald, pour y assurer une liaison urgente auprès du Colonel Allegret. Le Capitaine Revon, dès sa mission terminée, rejoindra Paris d´urgence et se présentera au Lieutenant Colonel Chef du Cabinet Militaire´ (Translation: ´Captain Jacques Revon, of General De Gaulle’s Military Staff (identity card No. 027 dated 5 September 1944), is to travel to Algiers aboard the ‘Catalina’ aircraft commanded by Lieutenant Archibald, to establish urgent contact with Colonel Allegret. Captain Revon, once his mission is complete, will return to Paris as a matter of urgency and report to the Lieutenant-Colonel, Head of the Military Cabinet´ . A member of the Free French Air Forces during World War II, he commanded the Groupe de bombardement Lorraine and flew twenty-two combat missions before being appointed Chef du Cabinet Militaire of General Charles de Gaulle in 1944.
