BAYE JOSEPH DE: (1853-1931) - BAYE JOSEPH DE: (1853-1931) Joseph Berthelot, Baron de Baye. French archaeologist, ethnographer, collector and traveller. An important early investigator of the prehistoric archaeology of Champagne, Baye subsequently travelled extensively throughout the Russian Empire, undertaking archaeological and ethnographical research in Russia, Siberia and the Caucasus and assembling significant collections for French museums. President of the Société nationale des antiquaires de France in 1906. A.L.S., Bon. de Baye , to the verso of a picture postcard featuring an image of the Monument to Minin and Pozharsky, Moscow, 6/19th May 1916, to Monsieur le Commandant Martin in Paris, in French.
