BARKER WILLAIM GEORGE: (1894-1930) Known as ''Billy Barker''. Canadian Fighter Ace during First World War. A Victoria Cross recipient. Barker is the most decorated serviceman in the history of Canada. D.S., `W. G. Barker´, in his capacity as Commanding 139 Squadron, one page, folio, brown paper, Trento and Pergine, France, 13th September 1918. The partially printed document, completed in typescript, is a Combat Report (headed Combats in the Air), corresponding to the 139 Squadron, aeroplane B.F. 8084 8078, at 9-0 a.m., the Remarks being `Ten E.A., D.5´s and one 2-seater. Pilots poor´, and the narrative stating, in part, '…Captain Dalrymplewas then attacked by another D.3. from the right and below. Pilot side slipped to the right placing his Observer, Lt. Beagle, in position. Observer fired 3 drums into the E.A. from about 50 yards range. During the last drum this E.A. turned over and burst into flames..´ A lengthy and very interesting combat report. Barker died in an aircraft crash at the early age of 35. His funeral has been the largest national state event in Toronto´s history. VG £400-600
