CURIE EVE: (1904-2007) French Writer and Pianist. Younger daughter of Marie and Pierre Curie, and the only member of the family who was not a scientist. Author of her mother´s biography Madame Curie (1937). From the 1960s she committees herself to work for Unicef and for children. T.L.S., `Eve Curie´, one page, 8vo, Auteuil, 19th November 1938, on her personal printed stationery, in French. Curie states `I am deeply touched learning that my mother´s work is known in the depths of Afghanistan. It must be a very interesting country; I am very happy that you appreciate it.´ further saying `I have unfortunately met very few pupils of my mother. She would have been proud knowing that one of them has revealed the Radioactivity principles to the Afghans.´ Before concluding Eve Curie adds an amusing comment `The stamps have made my secretary very happy.´ Folded, with small corner creases to the right border, otherwise VG £60-90
