[ALICE´S ADVENTURES IN WONDERLAND]: TENNIEL JOHN (1820-1914) - [ALICE´S ADVENTURES IN WONDERLAND]: TENNIEL JOHN (1820-1914) English illustrator, graphic humourist and political cartoonist, remembered for his illustrations to Lewis Carroll´s Alice´s Adventures in Wonderland (1865) and Through the Looking-Glass, and What Alice Found There (1871). A.L.S., John Tenniel , one page, 8vo, Newman Street (London), 15th October 1852, to Frederick M. Evans. Tenniel informs his correspondent, ' Many thanks for the cheque for £50 which I have just now received '. Neatly laid down and with some light overall damp staining and age wear, G Frederick Mullett Evans (1803-1870) English printer and publisher, known for his work as a partner in the publishers Bradbury & Evans. The firm acquired Punch magazine in 1842; Evans was responsible for proofs and payments.
