ROCHAMBEAU COUNT OF: (1725-1807) Jean-Baptiste Donatien de Vimeur. Count of Rochambeau. French Marshal and Nobleman. Rochambeau played a major role as Commander in Chief of the French Expeditionary Forces, helping the American Continental Army to win independence against British forces during the American Revolution. A good and clean L.S., `le Cte de Rochambeau´, two pages, folio, also dated in his hand `Brest, 25th June 1775´, in French. The carefully written document being a lengthy and detailed report entitled `Regiment de Beaujoloies´, and relates to the regiment situation stating `The Officers are all perfectly trained, wearing impeccable uniforms.. 213 men having been at war remain in this regiment.., further listing the number of soldiers, the new ones arrived, dead ones, deserters, etc..
