DUBUFFET JEAN: (1901-1985) French Painter and Sculptor. Best known for founding the Art Brut movement. T.L.S., `Jean Dubuffet´, one page, Paris, 22nd June 1976, on his printed stationery, 51 rue Verneuil, to Ben Braude, in French. Dubuffet thanks his correspondent for his letter and states in part `I am precisely 75 years old too, and I suffer permanent pain on my spine, which bothers me although do not prevent me to work assiduously on my paintings. Over the last few months I cut these paintings in pieces and I create large assemblies. They will be exhibited in New York next January at the Pace Gallery..´ further also saying `..I very much like New York, it is a very marvelous city..´ EX £250-350
